Great blog! We have always stressed on how much grip is important and train like crazy to get it better. I've learned quite a bit more and I thank you!

Yo Bart! This is Joe from class at Fusion. First, good blog with very useful info. Second, with the cooler temps coming up, I'm going to try getting as many BJJ students as possible to cross train in bouldering (ropeless climbing on smaller blocks). It's a fun sport in itself, and also translates well to BJJ in terms of grip strength and core strength. If you're down, hit me up.

Good information as always. Did you see the fights last weekend? How insane were those? Brian Bowles did the impossible and Silva's fight was humiliating. I don't want to tell you what to write but you should post about those events. Good stuff.

And I do have a question about grip fighting. Is it only beneficial to start the grip fight when you're both standing or if you're on bottom like the kenflo video? I don't notice many guys with mount or even half guard grip fighting. So is it only a defensive move?
